How to Manage Your Private Sub-Group

Step 1

Sign in to Faithlife.com

Faithlife is an online community built specially for churches. Bible Engagement Project uses Faithlife to manage your digital small groups.

Visit Faithlife.com in your web browser. Make sure to sign in using the same email and password you used for the Bible Engagement Project app.

Step 2

Find your small group

Once you are logged in, scroll down to find a section called Groups on the left-hand side of the screen.

Find your small group in the list of groups and click on it to open it.

Step 2

Find your small group

Once you are logged in, scroll down to find a section called Groups on the left-hand side of the screen.

Find your small group in the list of groups and click on it to open it.

Step 3

Update your small group's info

First make sure your group’s name, info, and location details are all correct. Click on the icon  with three dots on the right side of the banner. Select “Settings” from the list.

On the Group Settings page, you can modify your group’s name, add location and about information, and more. Go through the various sections and make sure everything looks good.

For more information about the privacy section, read below.

Step 4

Set your group's privacy

One of the most important sections on the Settings screen is the privacy level of your group.

By default, your group is Public. This means that anyone can find your group, follow it, and see the content that people post.

Since people could be sharing personal information, you may want content posted to your group to only be visible to members. Consider changing your group to Private. People will still be able to find your small group—they just won’t be able to read posts until they join.

Step 5

Customize your branding

To customize your group’s branding, head back to your group’s activity feed by clicking “Activity” at the top of the left-hand sidebar. You can change the logo or the banner image by clicking on the photo icon.

A pop-up will ask you to sign in and authorize Amber, Faithlife’s digital media tool. Amber is a helpful way to upload images, videos, and find tons of free stock imagery.

Feel free to upload your own image, or pick something you like from the stock imagery.

Step 6

Edit posts

There may be an occasion where you will need to remove something a member has posted to your group. To delete a post, navigate to the post on your Activity feed. Click on the down-facing triangle in the top right corner of the post you want to delete. Select “Delete” from the list.

Step 7

Manage your group's members

The last key thing to know about your group is where to find and manage the list of all your group members.

This is done on the "Group Members" screen, found near the top of the left-hand sidebar.

Manage your group's members

The last key thing to know about your group is where to find and manage the list of all your group members.

This is done on the "Group Members" screen, found near the top of the left-hand sidebar.

Let’s say you’d like to make one of your members into a moderator for the group.

First, select the person from the list of members.

With a member selected, click on the Actions button. Select “Change to: Moderator” from the list.

If you’d like to remove a member from your group, you can follow the same steps but select “Remove from group” from the actions list.

It’s important to know that removing a member from your group will NOT remove the member from the church group or revoke their access to the Bible Engagement Project curriculum. For more information on removing members from the church group, see Managing your digital church.

Congratulations!

Congratulations—you’re all set to lead your small group using Bible Engagement Project! We pray that God uses this curriculum and app to speak to you and your small group!
