Solomon Chooses Wisdom
After forty years, the reign of King David ended with his death. Although he was one of Israel’s greatest kings, he was not perfect. He had an affair with a married woman named Bathsheba, and had her husband killed to cover up the affair and a resulting pregnancy. Solomon, the second son of David and Bathsheba, became David’s successor and the continuation of the lineage of Christ Jesus. Solomon began his reign with a promising act, asking the God of his father David to give him great wisdom.
