So much has been written on leadership. Climbing the ladder of greatness and success is an admirable goal, but it can be a slippery slope. What’s the true cost of greatness when it comes to service in the kingdom of God? Jesus was approached by James and John’s mother, asking for her sons to be seated next to Jesus in greatness. This bold request from her was met with a highly quotable portion of Scripture. Jesus gave James and John, and each of us, an honest look into what it means to be great in God’s kingdom. Our definition of greatness must be different from that of the world around us. Jesus teaches us that true greatness is only achieved by serving others first.
