Jonah in the belly of a giant fish is one of the most familiar of all Bible stories. Yet if this is all we get from the story, we miss a major piece of the entire account. God sent Jonah to go to a very wicked people outside of Israel, the Ninevites, to declare destruction over them. As Jonah preached, the people of Nineveh fasted, prayed, and repented.
