In this session, Jesus rebuked religious leaders for ignoring God’s commandments while reinforcing the traditions they had created. These leaders were declaring themselves to be righteous because they kept their own laws, while not keeping God’s. It’s easy to point fingers at them and ignore that we all face the same temptation. They needed a pointed message from Jesus about the true source of a pure heart before God. Like it or not, it’s a message we need as well.
