Daniel in the Lions' Den

After many years of God sending prophets to warn Israel and Judah to repent and return to Him, God had no choice but to allow them to endure those consequences. First, Assyria conquered the northern kingdom of Israel. Her citizens were deported and resettled in the land of Assyria (2 Kings 15:29; 2 Kings 17:3–6). Eventually, the southern kingdom of Judah was also conquered and deported to Babylonia (2 Kings 24:12–14; 2 Kings 25:11, 21). Daniel, now an older man in the service of the Medo-Persian Empire, is the focus of this session. Time and again throughout the Book of Daniel, he boldly demonstrated his faith in God despite the pagan culture in which he was living.
